Leadership and Life Etiquette
Research shows that young people become more confident, competent and demonstrate individual growth and maturity when they learn how to tap into their leadership abilities and demonstrate leadership skills. Further, young people develop greater empathy and learn that they can make a difference in the world through service learning.
Life etiquette involves learning manners, respect for self and others, healthy use of social media, and proper grooming and hygiene. With over 15 years of leadership and service learning experience, working with high school and college-aged youth, we can attest to the validity of this research. Therefore, the Talitha Cumi! Program, will include leadership, life etiquette, and service learning.
This series of sessions will deliver a proven methodology for teaching leadership skills to adolescents. It starts by establishing a working definition of leadership. Individual sessions will include topics such as team building, communications, diversity and community mapping. Experiential exercises are woven throughout the curricula. The group goal is to select and implement a community service project.
